Re-Examining the G.A.P.S.: Gaining Access for Professional Success

Proposals are being accepted for a broad variety of topics including:

  • Student Life in higher education
  • Student Affairs and Retention Services in higher education
  • Faculty/Administrators in higher education
  • Pre-College Programs and Recruitment in higher education
  • What are the G.A.P.S.?
  • How can we (minorities) get a seat at the table?
  • Is the minority faculty an endangered species?
  • What does leadership look like?
  • Why is adaptability crucial to viability?
  • How do we become change agents?
  • When does the interview really begin?
  • How do we build our professional network?
  • How do we meet students where they are and get them where they need to be?
  • Are we our brothers’ keeper or are we barriers to his success?
  • Inclusion: cultural and professional
  • Creating an inclusive environment

Deadline to submit proposal: February 13, 2015

Proposals acceptance notices sent to presenters: February 23, 2015


  • 150-400 word abstract identifying the intended strand and format for the proposed session.
  • Identify audio/visual and presentation needs (I.E: PowerPoint, monitors, TV, flip charts, markers, etc.). Presenters will be responsible for their own computer.
  • All conference presenters must pre-register for the conference. Registration will be confirmed prior to proposal acceptance.

Abstracts shall include: title of paper, presenter's name, home and institution/organization address and email.  Submissions should be postmarked by Friday, February 13, 2015. All presenters must register for the conference.  Send Call for Proposals to
