Nominations for the open KABHE Officer positions of Vice-President, Secretary,
Treasurer-Elect, and Scholarships and Nominations Chair. Please attend the Business
Meeting at the KABHE Conference on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 9:00 am to vote for the
candidates.
Nominations are being accepted through April 11, 2025. To nominate a candidate for one
of the open positions, please email Michelle Jones, Scholarship and Nomination Chair, at
michelle.jones@wku.edu.
Northwest Regional Representative and Southeast Regional Representative are voted on
during regional meetings on Monday, April 21, 2025.
Criteria for candidates to be placed on the ballot include:

A paid member of KABHE for at least one year

Commitment to serving a 2-year term

Currently registered and in attendance at the annual conference

Must be able to attend meetings and travel at institutional or personal expense.
Duties of Role (As Stated in Bylaws):
The Vice-President shall:
- Assume the duties of the President in the President’s absence or shall assume the permanent duties of the President if the office becomes vacant
- Assume additional duties assigned to this office by the president and/or the Executive Board.
- Assist the parliamentarian to review and/or recommend changes to the Association’s constitution and By-Laws.
- Seek appropriate means to assist other officers either on a permanent or an ad hoc basis and provide leadership for the standing committees and Regional Representatives of the Association.
The Secretary shall:
- Record the proceedings of all Association meetings.
- Prepare and maintain a current file of the Association proceedings.
- Prepare and mail the minutes to the Executive Board within thirty days following the meeting.
- Report and distribute deliberations of the Annual Business meeting to the general membership at the spring conference.
- Initiate and respond to all correspondence within the purview of the office.
- Maintain the original financial records of the Association, which shall become part of the Association's minutes. Before the annual meeting, the Treasurer and the Recording Secretary will prepare the yearly financial report.
- Mail to the members of the Executive Board announcements concerning all meetings of the Executive Board at least thirty (30) days prior to the meeting.

Produce and distribute annual membership directory by July 30 following the annual conference, with an addendum by December 30 of each year.
The Treasurer-Elect shall:
- Serve for one (1) year
- Work closely with Treasurer in learning roles and responsibilities to ensure continuity within the organization.
- Become Treasurer and begin a 2-year term at the end of this term.
The Nomination Coordinator shall:
- Form a Nominating Committee consisting of at least three (3) members of the Association prior to the election.
- Report timetable of the nomination process to the Executive Committee at the first fall meeting (e.g. September/October).
- Coordinate the nomination process for selecting a slate of officers which includes:
- Prepare and distribute the call for nominations; and
- Secure biographical data for each candidate.
- Secure the current paid membership roster from the treasurer at the fall Executive Board meeting (e.g. September/October).
- Prepare a slate of eligible nominees for the office from the current paid membership and review the slate with the Executive Board.
